Full Day Walking Tour Through Cairo

You'll be met by your expert Egyptologist guide at your hotel, then proceed to the awesome Ahmed Ibn Tulun Mosque, Egypt's oldest surviving mosque and the third oldest mosque in the world, built in 879 and one of the most unique with its wonderful spiral minaret. After this you'll wander through the heart of Islamic Cairo beginning at Bab Zuwayla and moving through the renowned Street of Al-Muizz-one of the city's most ancient streets. Along the way you'll visit the colourful Al Khayammeyah Tentmakers Market, Mosque-Mausoleum of Sultan al-Mu'ayyad Shaykh, Sabil-Kuttab of Tusun Pasha and Al Azhar Mosque, a historically and academically significant place as the oldest Islamic institution of higher learning.

Journey through Cairo's Medieval past to discover Bab al-Futuh and Bab al-Nasr, two imposing city gates since Cairo was founded in the 10th century. Explore the lively lanes of the Khan El Khalili Bazaar, stopping in the traditional shops that display all sorts of items from spices, leather and jewelry, to souvenirs and handicrafts while you take in the sights and sounds of Cairo's most famous market.

You will also have the chance to marvel at the beautiful Sultan Hassan Mosque which is considered one of the earliest and finest of Mamluk architecture in its monumental scale and striking design. Along the way you'll see several other architectural gems like the Mausoleum of Sultan al-Mansur Qalawun, the Madrasa-Khanqah of Sultan Barquq, the Museum of Textiles, historic Al-Qamar Mosque and the well-preserved Bayt Al-Sihaymi, for a true glimpse of traditional life in the city. The tour will include a welcome rest stop for lunch at a local restaurant. Your tour will end after seeing this part of the city, you'll then return to your hotel in comfort.
