Itinerary

1

When your cruise arrives at Alexandria Port, your guide will meet you and you’ll start the day with a private air-conditioned car. Since all the main stops are within Alexandria, there’s no need for a long drive between cities, so you can spend most of your day actually seeing the sights.

Your first stop is the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa. These underground tombs are one of the more unusual places to visit in Alexandria. As you walk through the different rooms and passages, you’ll notice a mix of Egyptian, Greek, and Roman details, which reflects how different cultures came together in the city over the years.

From there, continue to Pompey’s Pillar and the nearby Serapeum. The pillar is one of the most recognizable remains from Alexandria’s Roman period, and the surrounding archaeological site gives you a chance to see more of what was once part of the ancient city.

Next, head to Kom El Dikka to see the Roman Theatre. You can walk around the archaeological area and see the old marble seats and other remains that were uncovered at the site.

After the morning visits, take a break for lunch at a local restaurant and enjoy some Egyptian food before continuing.

In the afternoon, visit Qaitbay Citadel. The fortress stands right by the Mediterranean and was built on the site where the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria once stood. Take your time walking around the citadel and enjoy the sea views from the top.

The tour then continues to Bibliotheca Alexandrina, one of the landmarks Alexandria is best known for today. If the library is open and visits are available, you can go inside and have a look around.

Before heading back to the port, take a drive along the Alexandria Corniche. If there’s enough time, you can stop for a few photos by the Mediterranean before returning to your cruise.

At the end of the day, your driver will take you back to Alexandria Port and drop you off at your ship.
