Cairo Full Day Tour from Alexandria Port – Coptic & Islamic Cairo
Your guide will meet you at Alexandria Port when your cruise arrives, and from there you’ll head to Cairo in a private air-conditioned car. The drive takes a few hours, so you can relax along the way before starting your sightseeing.
Your first stop will be Coptic Cairo, one of the oldest parts of the city. You’ll visit the Hanging Church, which was built above part of the old Roman fortress, and Abu Serga Church, one of the oldest churches in Cairo. If the schedule allows, you can also visit Ben Ezra Synagogue and learn a little more about the different communities that have lived in this historic area.
After visiting Coptic Cairo, stop for lunch at a local restaurant.
Next, head to the Citadel of Saladin. The fortress sits high above the city and is one of Cairo’s most famous historic sites. Inside, you’ll visit the Mosque of Muhammad Ali, also known as the Alabaster Mosque, and have some time to enjoy the views of Cairo from the Citadel.
Later, continue to Al-Muizz Street in the heart of Islamic Cairo. Take a walk along the historic street and see the old mosques, madrasas, and traditional buildings that make this part of the city so interesting. If there is enough time, you can also visit Khan El Khalili Bazaar, where you’ll find small shops selling souvenirs, handmade items, spices, and local products.
After finishing the sightseeing, leave Cairo and start the drive back to Alexandria. Your driver will take you directly to Alexandria Port and drop you off at your cruise ship.
