Escape Cairo for a few days and see a side of Egypt that feels completely different. This 3-day Bahariya Oasis safari takes you into the Western Desert, where the roads get quieter, the views get wider, and the landscape seems to change every few hours.
The trip starts with the drive from Cairo to Bahariya Oasis. Once you arrive, you’ll switch to a 4x4 and head out into the desert. Your first stop is the Black Desert, where dark volcanic hills rise out of the sand. You’ll then stop at El Hez Village for a little break by a natural cold spring before continuing to Crystal Mountain, a small but unusual formation surrounded by open desert.
Then comes the White Desert, which is probably the part you’ll remember most. The scenery changes completely, with bright white rocks scattered across the sand in shapes created naturally by wind and erosion. You’ll have time to look around, take photos, and enjoy the landscape before finding a good spot to watch the sunset.
After sunset, head to the desert camp for dinner. There’s no city noise out here, no traffic, and no busy streets — just the desert, a traditional dinner, and a sky full of stars. It’s a nice chance to slow down and enjoy the evening without having to rush anywhere.
The following morning starts early with sunrise over the White Desert. Once the sun comes up, the rocks and sand take on completely different colors, so it’s worth getting up for. After breakfast, you’ll continue exploring the area and see some of the famous formations, including the mushroom-shaped rocks.
Later, you’ll leave the desert and return to Bahariya Oasis for lunch and some time to rest at the hotel. After spending the day in the desert, having a quiet afternoon is probably exactly what you’ll need.
On the last day, you’ll have some free time in Bahariya before starting the drive back to Cairo.
It’s a simple trip, but it gives you a lot in just three days — a 4x4 desert adventure, the Black and White Deserts, natural springs, Crystal Mountain, a desert sunset and sunrise, and a night spent under the stars. After lunch, continue towards the White Desert. The landscape changes completely here, with bright white limestone rocks scattered across the desert. Many of the formations have been shaped by wind and erosion over thousands of years, creating unusual shapes that almost look like sculptures.
As the day comes to an end, find a good spot to watch the sunset over the White Desert before heading to the desert camp.
In the evening, enjoy a traditional Bedouin-style dinner and spend the night at the camp. With the desert all around you and the sky above, it’s a nice chance to slow down and enjoy a quieter side of Egypt.

After breakfast at the camp, continue exploring the White Desert. You’ll see some of the area’s most recognizable formations, including the mushroom-shaped rocks and other limestone structures scattered across the desert.
After spending some more time in the desert, continue back towards Bahariya Oasis.
Enjoy lunch and then have some free time at the hotel to relax after the safari. The rest of the afternoon is easygoing, giving you a chance to rest and enjoy the quieter atmosphere of the oasis.

After breakfast, check out of the hotel and enjoy some free time in Bahariya Oasis before starting the journey back to Cairo.
Later, leave Bahariya by private vehicle and make your way back through the Western Desert towards the capital.
