It’s a long drive, but the scenery changes as you get farther away from the city. You’ll travel through desert landscapes and along parts of the northern coast before reaching Siwa.
Once you arrive, check in at your hotel and take some time to rest after the journey.
Later in the evening, you can take a walk around the oasis or simply relax and enjoy the quiet atmosphere. Siwa has a very different feel from Cairo, with palm trees, natural springs, and a much slower pace of life.

After breakfast, get ready for a day out in the Great Sand Sea.
You’ll head into the desert by 4x4, driving across the large golden dunes and stopping at different viewpoints along the way. There will be plenty of opportunities to take photos and enjoy the scenery.
One of the stops will be Bir Wahed, a natural hot spring surrounded by the dunes. You’ll have some time to relax there and enjoy the unusual feeling of finding warm water in the middle of the desert.
You’ll also visit a nearby cold-water spring, which makes for a refreshing break during the safari.
Lunch will be served during the desert trip.
Later in the afternoon, head to a scenic spot in the Great Sand Sea to watch the sun go down over the dunes. Once the sun sets, return to Siwa and your hotel for the evening.

After breakfast, spend the day exploring some of Siwa’s best-known places.
Start at Shali Fortress, the remains of Siwa’s old town. You can walk through the narrow passages and see the traditional mud-brick buildings while learning more about the history of the oasis.
Next, visit Cleopatra’s Spring, one of the most popular natural springs in Siwa. The area is surrounded by palm trees and local cafés, making it a nice place to take a break.
From there, continue to the Salt Lakes. The water is known for its bright turquoise color and high salt content, and you’ll have time to swim, relax, and take some photos.
After lunch at a local restaurant, continue to Gabal El Dakrour. The mountain offers wide views over Siwa and the surrounding desert, especially on a clear day.
After the sightseeing, return to the hotel and enjoy the rest of the evening at your own pace.

Today is about enjoying the desert itself. You’ll drive through the dunes, stop at scenic spots, and have time to take in the wide-open landscape without feeling like you have to rush through it.
During the safari, enjoy a traditional Bedouin-style lunch surrounded by the desert.
In the afternoon, continue to a good viewpoint for sunset. Watching the light change across the dunes is one of the nicest parts of spending time in the Great Sand Sea.
After sunset, return to your hotel in Siwa and enjoy a quiet evening.
